Josh D’Amaro, longtime Disney leader and head of Disney Experiences, will take the helm as CEO in March 2026, guiding the company’s future in parks, storytelling, and global growth.
The Walt Disney Company has just announced a major leadership transition: Josh D’Amaro will become the next CEO of Disney, taking the helm from Bob Iger effective March 18, 2026. This decision was made in a unanimous vote by Disney’s Board of Directors and represents the culmination of a multi-year succession planning process.
D’Amaro isn’t a new face at the House of Mouse. He’s been with Disney since 1998 and brings nearly three decades of experience to the role. Before being chosen as CEO, he served as Chairman of Disney Experiences, one of the company’s most vital and profitable divisions, which includes theme parks, resorts, cruise lines, Disney Vacation Club, Disney consumer products, and Imagineering. Under his leadership, Disney Experiences generated more than $36 billion in annual revenue and oversaw massive expansions like Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Avengers Campus, and new lands planned at Walt Disney World and other global destinations.
Replacing Bob Iger — who guided Disney through major strategic shifts, acquisitions, and the launch of Disney+ — will be no small task. Iger will remain with the company as a senior advisor and board member through the end of 2026, helping ensure a smooth transition.
D’Amaro’s appointment is significant not just for Disney’s parks and travel experiences but also for the company’s broader direction. As a leader rooted in operations and guest experience, D’Amaro faces the challenge of balancing Disney’s creative ambitions with evolving consumer expectations across media, streaming, theme parks, and global entertainment.
In tandem with D’Amaro’s new role, Dana Walden has been named President and Chief Creative Officer, strengthening Disney’s creative leadership as the company embarks on its next chapter.
This leadership change marks a new era for Disney — one that could reshape how fans experience Disney storytelling across the world.
