Walt Disney World has confirmed the recent rumor regarding a new ticket add-on that allows some guests to purchase additional FastPass+ selections.
This change could point to a larger pay-to-play trend at the parks.
Guests staying at select Walt Disney World hotels that are eligible for Signature Services and have purchased a 3-day or longer ticket may take advantage of the new option. Signature Services are typically available to guests in Club-Level Rooms or Suites and VIP Tour Guests.
Club-level rooms can be found in many Disney deluxe resorts, like the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Contemporary Resort, Grand Floridian Resort, and Yacht Club Resort, and also encompasses cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, bungalows at the Polynesian Village, and various suites at the Swan and Dolphin Hotels.
Beginning January 12, 2018, Disney World began allowing some resort guests to purchase three extra FastPass+ selections per day for $50 per person. A minimum three-day purchase is required for the add-on, according to Disney. A Disney spokesperson confirmed the information with Spectrum News 13.
Numerous guests are becoming increasingly frustrated with the new updates that Disney has been rolling out – namely ticket price increases and additional add-ons that were once complimentary, like hotel parking. Allowing guests to purchase additional Fastpasses is not a new phenomenon, as Universal Studios has been doing this for years, but when coupled with the free fastpass+ selections already available to Disney guests, this creates frequent long-lines in standby queues at popular attractions and adds more stress to guests in the planning stages of their vacation.
The additional selections can be in any tier, and if a hopper ticket is purchased, the FastPass+ selections can be in multiple theme parks. Guests, however, cannot reserve the same attraction more than once in a single day. The booking window for the additional FastPass+ selections is 90 days in advance.
With the fast passes, guests will get preferred viewing for nighttime spectaculars, including Happily Ever After at the Magic Kingdom, Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot, Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
All FastPass+ reservations, including the preferred viewing location, are limited and subject to availability.
The add-on is available to Disney annual pass holders who stay in eligible rooms.
