What Is Disney After Hours?
In 2016, The Walt Disney Company introduced a new Hard Ticket option for the Magic Kingdom. Disney After Hours has a simple premise; Disney fans can pay more money to stay after the park’s closing. They didn’t even need admission tickets for the day, just the event itself. These special tickets let guests enter the park at 7:00 PM every event night.
Admission to Disney After Hours can be purchased in advance for $125 per adult or child, plus tax—or purchased on the day of the event for $129 per adult or child, plus tax.
Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can take advantage of specially priced tickets for just $95 per adult or child, plus tax.
What about Food?
Ice Cream, Popcorn & Select Beverages Included!
At that price tag, you better believe there are additional benefits from attending the event. Disney provides free snacks such as popcorn, ice cream, and Mickey Bars and complimentary beverages.
Unfortunately, you will find that most of the regular Table Service and Quick Service locations aren’t open during Disney After Hours. Main Street Bakery is one awesome exception. They’ll also keep Casey’s Corner open if you need something more substantial.
Why Is Disney After Hours a Good Idea?
Think of this for a moment; the Magic Kingdom received almost 20.4 million visits in 2016. That’s an average of 56,000 guests per day.
Rumour has it that you will join 3,000 other guests during the night of the event. At the Magic Kingdom, that’s as close to empty as you’ll ever see. Extra Magic Hours doesn’t have a limit, as they are regular Park guests staying at the resorts.
Keep in mind other hard tickets events like Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party have longer lines and larger crowds
Pro Tip – Eat a late dinner. While you can order food, a quirk of Disney After Hours is that the longest lines are oftentimes for food.
Though the ticket allows you to enter at 7:00, the event doesn’t begin until 9:00 which means you can do things between 7 and the event starting time that
How does Disney After Hours differ from Extra Magic Hours
Guests who stay at a Walt Disney World resort hotel have access to Extra Magic Hours – hours before and after park opening on select mornings and nights. During these times, the parks are less busy because they aren’t open to the general public – only to resort guests.
The After-Hours event is much different. Only a limited amount of tickets are sold for after hours. So the Parks are much, much less crowded than it would be during Extra Magic Hours.
Furthermore, Extra Magic Hours only have a select number of rides open, and usually within a specific land. After Hours has nearly the entire park available for riding.
