With the Disney World news flood lately here is another Disney calculation to ponder. Here is how Disney addressed the matter of allowing cancellation of Annual Passes in Light of the restrictive Theme Park reservation system.
Annual Passholders can hold only 3 Disney World Park Pass reservations at a time. This has lead to a devaluation being perceived by some. Disney gets it! With all the restrictions and requirements many just want out, the fact is Disney at this time, and rightly so, just cannot give Annual Passholders what they paid at this time.
Walt Disney World Annual Passholders have a Decision to Make.
As the Walt Disney World theme parks prepare to reopen, we see a lot of Passholder enthusiasm to get back to the magic. We are eager to see our cherished Passholders too. We also recognize that Park reservations will change the way that many of our Passholders prefer to enjoy their pass. With that in mind, we are offering these alternative options to manage your pass.
If you are an Annual Passholder that has paid in full, your options include:
You will receive a one month extension to your pass (unless you choose one of the alternative options below). This additional month will automatically be processed and visible in your My Disney Experience account in October 2020.
Alternatively, and in lieu of the one month extension, Passholders who have paid in full may choose to cancel their annual pass and receive a partial refund.
If you are an Annual Passholder on the monthly payment plan, your options include:
You will receive an additional one month extension to your pass (unless you choose the alternative option below). This additional month will automatically be processed and visible in your My Disney Experience account in October 2020. Please note that monthly payments are scheduled to resume with park opening on July 11, 2020.
Alternatively, and in lieu of the additional month extension, Passholders on the monthly payment plan may choose to cancel their annual pass and waive their monthly payments due after August 11, 2020. Any payments made between July 11, 2020 and August 11, 2020 will be retroactively refunded for those that select this option and all future payments would be stopped. We will send information in early July with details on how to take action on these options.

Payment options above are broken down as either an extension option or a cancellation option.
The terms of service for Annual Pass contract clearly state that you cannot cancel your pass. Disney is acknowledging that the agreement is functional impaired and the Annual Pass experience has simply lost the value it had advertised when guests purchased it.
We look forward to Disney World reopening, and a return in the future to some of the activities cancelled.
