Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple review

Last Updated on April 1, 2020

How long is Jedi training?

The show lasts 25 minutes, but kids need to check in 30 minutes before showtime for robes and a pep talk, making this a 55-minute experience.

Tips for Nabbing A Spot at Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple

Prepare your kids

One of the criteria, in order to be included in Jedi Training, is that your child is able to follow simple instructions and won’t be overcome with nerves.

While our oldest was all too ready to fight Darth Vader, our youngest was a little hesitant to battle and seemed a little Star Struck. She got through it, with some encouragement from her Jedi Master, but we would not have put her in Jedi Training had her brother not signed up as well.

Be prepared to pick a time.

Once you’re in line to sign up, things speed up really quickly and when you get to the registration desk, you’ll be asked to select a time for the performance you’d like your child to be in.   If you’re early enough in line, you can pick from a wide range of options.

Based on your Hollywood Studios touring plan, have a time already decided, and maybe a backup time, that isn’t too early in the morning.

Sign up for Jedi Training as soon as you enter Hollywood Studios

As mentioned before, during high crowds it can be hard to get one of those coveted 600 spots for Jedi Training. While we don’t suggest arriving with the Rise of the Resistance crew, sleeping in isn’t an option either.

Plan to enter Hollywood Studios at or near rope drop and make your way immediately for the registration area. If you plan it right, this path will be part of your Touring Plan and shouldn’t be a detour.

Bring your kids

I can’t stress this enough! Your children need to be with you in order to sign up. Parents cannot run ahead to snag a spot.

Watch out for rain

Since this is an outdoor show, it can be canceled due to rain. That’s always disappointing, especially since you won’t be able to reschedule it later that day. We suggest you prepare the kids (and yourself) that this is a possibility but you won’t let it ruin your trip.

We arrived for training as it was starting to sprinkle. The lead Jedi Master warned us that if it gets too much worse, that they would be forced to cancel. They pushed on, continuing to prepare the children, even marching them to the Temple stage. The sprinkles got a little heavier as they loaded the children onto the stage but it quickly passed and everyone was allowed to perform as planned.

A few of the parents and I (jokingly) suggested Disney create a waiver that we can sign, saying we will do anything to allow the kids to perform in adverse weather – even though we warned them this was a possibility, I do not want to be the one to tell the kids they can’t perform after being prepped and robed.

What to wear for Jedi training?

Even though your child will be wearing Jedi robes, you can still see what they are wearing under the robe.

We encourage families to dress up as their favorite Star Wars characters, keeping in mind they are fighting the bad guys in this performance. Our son owns a Storm Tropper costume – this is not the time to wear it.

Do the VIP Star Wars tour

If you are a serious Star Wars fan and want to guarantee your kids a spot at the Jedi Training Academy, pay for the VIP Star Wars Tour.

We did the 6-hour tour back in March and it ended with Jedi training academy in the early afternoon. If you plan on bringing your kids on the tour, you don’t need to worry about signing them up separately. It was insanely cool and highly recommend it!

Hang on to your tickets

A cast member gives you a printed return ticket with your registered showtime. Take good care of this ticket, because your child needs it when checking in for the show.
