Walt Disney World has released the Free Dining Plan discount for select dates in June, July, August, and September 2020!
The dates during which free dining is offered change each and every year. Disney uses this promotion to fill its resorts during off-peak travel times, so these dates inevitably change.
What’s Included with a Dining Plan?
Before we get to that, let’s start with a look at the dates for the Summer 2020 Free Dining Deal:
- June 27 through June 28, 2020
- July 5 through July 7, 2020
- August 29 through September 8, 2020
A Free Dining plan is available when you purchase a non-discounted 5-night/6-day vacation package vacation that includes a room at a select Disney Resort hotel (see below for exclusions) and ticket with a Park Hopper Option. (Note that packages for other lengths of stay may be available.)
- If you book a Value resort, you’ll get the Quick Service Dining Plan.
- If you book a Moderate resort, you’ll get the Quick Service Dining Plan.
- If you book a Deluxe resort or a Villa, you get the standard Disney Dining Plan.
This offer excludes the following room types:
- 3-bedroom Villas
- Campsites
- Cabins at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Bungalows at Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
- Little Mermaid Standard Rooms at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
This offer must be booked by January 16, 2020, and it follows the normal rules of Free Dining (which are covered in full detail here). Most notably, Value and Moderate Resort guests receive the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan, while Deluxe and Deluxe Villa guests receive the standard Disney Dining Plan.
Can you upgrade the free Disney Dining Plan?
YEs, you can definitely upgrade a dining plan you get for free as part of the Disney Free Dining offer.
If you get the Quick Service plan with your package and want the standard Disney Dining Plan, you will just pay the difference between the two plans.
How can I book a Free Dining Package?
You can only book a Disney World Free Dining package with a Disney authorized travel agent or directly through Disney. I strongly recommend using a travel agent who specializes in Disney travel to help you with booking any Disney package!
Is Disney Free Dining The Best Deal?
The short answer to the question “Is Free Dining the best deal?” is not always. Whether or not Free Dining works out to be the best deal for your travel party depends on several factors.
Taking into consideration where you plan on eating throughout your trip, how often you plan on visiting the Parks (as opposed to day trips into Orlando) and how many guests above age 10 in your party, will dramatically affect how much you are saving by adding the Free Disney Dining Plan.
Also, where you stay will greatly impact whether or not Free Dining is the best deal for you. Generally, you’ll save the most from Free Dining at Disney’s Value or Moderate resorts, even when upgrading to Standard Dining Plan.
How do we feel about this offer?
The list of dates available to guests is very limited, June through September 2020 Free Disney Dining Plan deal. Because of this, we expect many people are going to pass on this option, as well as Disney being sold out of rooms by the end of Day 1.
Why Stay at a Disney Resort Hotel?
Other than the myriad of included perks that are available to guests that stay onsite, free dining is only available to guests staying at a Disney resort. This means guests choosing to stay off-site, even at a decent inexpensive hotel, will lose most of their savings to paying for their meals, as opposed to guys taking advantage of Free Disney Dining.
In this particular situation, staying onsite may be the cheaper route.
To book by phone, call (407) 939-4283† to speak with a vacation planning expert or call your travel agent. Ask about packages of other lengths of stay.
